Scottye Lou Hanks, nee Vincent, 84, of Waterloo, IL, died February 8, 2025, in Waterloo, IL. She was born February 2, 1941, in Oklahoma City, OK.
She is survived by her husband William L. Hanks; children sons Brandon (Gabrielle) Hanks, Matthew (Tami) Hanks, Michael (Nicole) Hanks, and Calen (Jacquie) Hanks; grandchildren William Hanks, Adam and Taylor Hanks, Megan, Ryan and Lauren Hanks, and Kathryn, Violet, Jack, and Paul Hanks.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Scott and Eva Pauline (nee Danner) Vincent; and brother Wallace Gene Vincent.
Scottye taught Kindergarten through 8th grade for 27 years. She taught in public schools Pontiac- William Holliday District 105 in Fairview Heights, IL, Five Point Elementary in Fairborn, OH, O'Fallon District 90 in O'Fallon, IL, and Grant-Illini District 110 in Fairview Heights, IL. She also taught at First Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, IL, 3 years as a director of Child Development Services, 5 years teaching preschool and kindergarten classes at the Child Development Center and 10 years as director of the Kindergarten Sunday School Department. She was also an accomplished musician and accompanist for several churches.
