Ruth C. Goldschmidt, nee Schoening, 89, of Columbia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday,

December 9, 2015 in Belleville, IL. She was born Friday, April 2, 1926, in Columbia, IL. On October 26, 1947, she married August O. Goldschmidt of Merrimac, IL.

She is survived by her children Ted Goldschmidt, Anita Graber, Thomas Goldschmidt; grandchildren Jace Goldschmidt, Tory (Natalie) Watson, Jacob (Sara) Watson, Victoria (Matt) Rippelmeyer, and Abigail Graber; great grandchildren, Julia Grace Watson, Samantha Rippelmeyer and Alexandra Rippelmeyer; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents George & Mathilda (nee Kuehner) Schoening; husband August O. "Gussie" Goldschmidt; daughter Annette R. Goldschmidt; brother George B. Schoening; half-brother Edgar Schoening; sons-in-law Greg Graber and Rick Holmes.

 Memorial Visitation will be from:

           3 PM to 5 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Paul United Church of Christ - Columbia, IL

  Memorial Service will be:

          5 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL

                      

She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary - Columbia and the Columbia Historical Society plus was an employee at Weilbacher's Grocery for many years.
