Laura Michelle Krenz

Laura Michelle Krenz, nee Holzweg, 42, of Chicago, IL, died August 22, 2023, in Chicago, IL. She was born May 31, 1981, in St. Louis, MO.

 She is survived by her husband Peter Krenz; son Oskar Krenz; mother Judy (Andy) Brinkmann; sister Catie Brinkmann; mother and father-in-law Heider & Maria Krenz; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts; uncles; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Laura is preceded in death by her father Richard Dean Holzweg; grandparents John and Frances Wildman and Wilbur and Irma Brinkmann; and uncle Paul Dundon.

 Laura Michelle Krenz (née Holzweg) received her Bachelor’s of Arts - History from Oklahoma State University. (where she met her husband Peter) She went on to receive a Master’s of Islamic Languages and Cultures from Washington University of St. Louis. Wanting to complete a Doctorate in Middle Eastern Archeology, she spent several years working diligently (during and after her first bout with brain tumors), and finally graduated with her second Master’s degree from the University of Chicago. A field study and survey Laura produced during a dig in Jordan, will be used this fall to open a new dig site in Jordan; Laura’s professor, Dr. Bethany Walker will lead the dig.
