John H. Thorburg, 87, of Waterloo, IL, died September 23, 2017, in St. Louis, MO. He was born August 30, 1930, in Wartburg, IL.
He is survived by his wife Sally Thorburg (nee Lyon); children Joan (Thomas) Nickeson, Janice (Allan) Stephens, Victoria (Steven) Ebert, Jeannie (Jay) Stumpf, Bradley (Marilyn) Thorburg, Scott Thorburg, and Michele (Tim) Williams; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother Delano Buettner; sister Zona Hogrebe; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
John is preceded in death by his parents John and Capitola Buettner nee Hoffstetter; adoptive parents Oswald and Ilo Thorburg nee Buettner; 1 grandson; 1 great grandson; numerous brothers and sisters.
He is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church - Waterloo and Waterloo VFW
