Herbert C. Muertz, 87, of Waterloo, IL, died December 22, 2023, in St. Louis, MO. He was born April 27, 1936, in Madonnaville, IL.

    He is survived by his wife Jane A. Muertz, nee Koch; children David (Anita) Muertz, Dean (Beth Crosley) Muertz, Diane (Mike) Jarvis, & Donald (Pam) Muertz; step children Russell (Lori) Walster, Rhett Walster, & Andrea Tutor; grandchildren Adam (Samantha) Ritzel, Alex Muertz, Emily (Tom) Faulkner, Evan (Victoria) Muertz, Madelyn Adams, Kurt Jarvis, Kasondra Jarvis, Kaitlyn Jarvis, Samantha Muertz, and Donny Muertz; step-grandchildren Russell Ray (Caitie) Walster, Abbie (Jared) Walster, Harryson Walster, Kayla (Cameron) Mueth, Cale Tutor, Lexis (Nick) Sellers, Logan Tutor, and London Schefft; 16 great grandchildren; brother Richard (Nancy) Muertz; sisters Roseanne Kohnz and Mary Jean Wuertz; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

    He is preceded in death his parents Peter & Agatha (nee Wuertz) Muertz; brothers and sisters Edward Muertz, George Muertz, Theodore Muertz, Geraldine Davis, Delores Johanning, Joseph Muertz, & Paul Wirsch, and granddaughter-in-law Heather Muertz.

    Herbert was a member of LIUNA Local #196, Maeystown Sportsmans Club, and avid fisherman and hunter, and a loving grandfather.
