Gerald J. Toennies, 86, of Wareloo, IL, died September 2, 2024, in Waterloo, IL. He was born April 9, 1938, in Damiansville, IL.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Toennies née Keim; children Mark Toennies (special friend Jim Tibbetts), Barb Toennies, Randy (Julie) Toennies; grandchildren Zander Toennies, Skylar Toennies, Ayden Toennies, and Delaney Toennies; siblings Bernice "Bim" (Franklin) Fuehne , Marie (Greg) Niemeyer, Janet (Tom) Eversgerd, and Germaine Schulte; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret A. (nee Santel) Toennies; brothers Norman, Cletus, Joseph, Alvin, and Walter Toennies; sisters Lucille Albers and Emma Toennies.

He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Church - Waterloo, Holy Name Society and a truck driver for Keim Trucking.

As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Association
