A gift from the Lord, Elsie A. Offermann, was born to William and Jesse (Lilly) Johanning on March 1, 1920, near Renault, IL. We rejoice in the knowledge that as of March 9, 2016, Elsie is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served for her 96 years.
A woman of strong faith, with a true servant’s heart, she put others’ needs before her own. She was a wonderful cook and baked many blue ribbon loaves of bread. Family and friends were frequently spoiled with her cream puffs, donuts, and peanut butter coffeecake. She loved crafting and her fingers sewed hundreds of World-Relief quilts.
Elsie married Walter Offermann on May 11, 1941, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, IL. Walter left his earthly home on March 8, 2000. Together, they farmed in the Fults, IL, area and were gifted with five children of their own: Gene (Susan) Offermann of Arroyo Grande, CA; Wray (Carolyn) Offermann Oakley, IL; Eileen (Jim) Nelson of Springfield, IL; Alice (Rick) Bader and Sonya (Steve) Stich of Lena, IL. There are twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Herman and Walter Johanning, and a sister, Clara Heller.
